Scriptures & Prayers to Cure our Worldly Concerns

There’s no doubt about it, living in this world has its challenges. We need all the power and strength from God that we can get. That being said, here are some scriptures to equip you for whatever it is you’re facing!

For anxiety:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6-7

Father, please take my worries today; I lay them at your feet. I feel overwhelmed and anxious, and I can’t seem to make sense of my circumstances right now. I long for your comfort and presence, and I know that you are an ever-ready help when I am in trouble. I realize that I do not need to understand everything going on around me, I need to simply choose your peace, and remain thankful for the ways you are taking care of me, and walking by my side. You will never leave nor forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:8). Thank you for the ways you are already working within me. In Jesus’ name AMEN

For depression:

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8

Father, my heart is weary. I don’t know how to bring myself out of the pain I am feeling. I feel helpless and fearful. I am lacking joy and peace. Thank you for the promise to lift my spirits as I choose to change my thinking to your goodness and purity. Please grant me the ability to make these thoughts more powerful than the thoughts I’m currently having. Consume me with your beauty and love. I have hope in you! You know my heart, Lord, and I know you love me. You are a good Father! In Jesus’ name AMEN

For fear:

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

God, I am so afraid of the unknown. I fear pain and suffering as I walk each step in this life. Help me to see your promises of peace and hope. “O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways” (Psalm 139). Nothing I do is a surprise to You. You have written my story, and you care for me in ways I could never comprehend. Thank you for being a loving presence in my life. I need you, Lord. Please hear my cries. In Jesus’ name AMEN

For exhaustion: 

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

I can’t lift another finger, Father. I want to curl up in bed and run away from this moment. However, I know this is not your will for me, Lord. You have promised me strength in EVERYTHING I do. I can rely on You; You are faithful! I trust you, and I choose to cling to your everlasting love. I pray I glorify You as I take one step at a time in the tasks before me. You are my strength, my glory, my everything! In Jesus’ name AMEN 

For sadness/broken heart:

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:17-18

Weakness surrounds me; I am left lonely and broken. I know that you understand my pain, and you are grieving with me. I lift my hands up to You with hope that You will heal my wounds- You are the ultimate healer. Lord, without You, I am nothing. Only You can turn my mourning into gladness (Jeremiah 31). I rejoice in You! You are my Lord and my God. In Jesus’ name I pray AMEN
